I want to put in a shameless plug for a product we just bought to help us with our YR2000 testing.

We run in-house written ADS applications almost exclusively, and we needed to be able to test them thoroughly for YR2000 compliance. The problem with most date simulation tools is that they require the entire CV to be running under a simulated date/time. This introduces other inconveniences and problems. We wanted something to override the real date/time in a more discreet way under the CV.

The solution we found (and the only one that exists that I know of) is called Date Simulator from HSL, Inc. You can set it up to override the date/time at just about any level, including lterm, userid, and taskcode. The override can be turned on and off at will. All other users and processes within the CV are not affected.

On our first use of the product we found errors in code that was already judged to be YR2000 compliant!! We highly recommend this product to any IDMS shop.

You can get more information about the product at HSL's website: WWW.HSLINC.COM, or feel free to contact me if you want more info about our experiences.
